Relay Control Systems

Reliable Control Solutions for Detention Applications

Corvinus Electric relay control systems provide essential functionality for managing electric locks, sliding doors, lighting, and other critical systems in correctional facilities. Our comprehensive range of control cards offers specialized features designed specifically for detention environments.

Available Models

Dry Contact Card (Model DC8)

The DC8 Dry-Contact Card operates electric locks or sliding door devices by switching from 24VDC or 120VAC through DRY Form C relay contacts. The card will operate eight locks or four sliders.

Key Features

    • Eight interposing relays with separate AC or DC power source options
    • Switches separate power sources through single-pole/double-throw dry contacts
    • LED indicators at each relay output for “ON” status
    • Diode surge suppression across each relay coil
    • Plug-in card edge connectors for easy insertion and removal
    • 19″ rack or back panel mounting options
Power Card (Model PC8)

The PC8 Power Card operates electric locks or sliding devices by switching 24VDC or 120VAC through Form C relay contacts. The card will operate eight locks or four sliders.

Key Features

    • Eight interposing relays with an integral fuse common to all eight relays
    • Switches a common fused source of power through single-pole double-throw/double-throw contacts
    • LED indicators at each relay output for “ON” status
    • Diode surge suppression across each relay coil
    • Plug-in card edge connectors for easy insertion and removal
    • 19″ rack or back panel mounting options
Group Release Card (Model GR8)

The GR8 Group Release Card allows multiple locks to be released in sequence, designed to reduce excessive simultaneous inrush currents from motor- or solenoid-operated locks.

Operation Modes

    • Momentary Input: Activates each output momentarily in a timed sequence
    • Maintained Input: Activates all outputs in a time sequence until input is removed, then de-energizes in a timed sequence

Key Features

    • Releases two individual groups of eight or one group of sixteen locks sequentially
    • Adjustable time delay (0.2-2.5 seconds) between successive starts
    • Compatible with maintained or momentary switch inputs
    • Cascade capability via jumpers for use with multiple cards
    • Plug-in card edge connectors for easy insertion and removal
    • 19″ rack or back panel mounting options
Interlock Card (Models IL8G & IL8R)

The IL8 Interlock Card disallows the simultaneous opening of more than one door within a vestibule, secure corridor, or sallyport. The card will control interlock groups in any combination, up to eight doors in one group.

Available Models

    • Model IL8G: Monitors the door “Closed” and Locked Input
    • Model IL8R: Monitors the door “Open” and Unsecured Input

Key Features

    • Breaks the control signal through a normally closed dry relay contact
    • Lamp test input to disable doors and prevent false door position indication during testing
    • Programmable interlock and override groups via field-modifiable DIP switches
    • Plug-in card edge connectors for easy insertion and removal
    • 19″ rack or back panel mounting options
Monitor Card (Model MC8)

The MC8 Monitor Card provides visual and audible notification when a door is illegally opened or tampered with.

Key Features

    • Series wiring of door position and lock status switches for comprehensive monitoring
    • Green LED illumination when the door is closed and locked
    • Flashing red LED and audible alarm when the door is “breached”
    • “Acknowledge” function changes flashing red LED to solid and silences alarm
    • Automatic return to “Secure” status when the door is closed and relocked after acknowledgment
    • Plug-in card edge connectors for easy insertion and removal
    • 19″ rack or back panel mounting options
Lighting Control Card (Model LC4)

The LC4 Lighting Control Card converts a momentary or maintained input into the proper controlling sequence for Low Voltage Lighting Control Systems. The card will control up to four separate circuits.

Key Features

    • Converts single wire input into a .05 second momentary ON/OFF output
    • Four outputs with separate AC or DC power source options
    • Typically used to control low-voltage lighting relays
    • Plug-in card edge connectors for easy insertion and removal
    • 19″ rack or back panel mounting options
Slider Control Card (Model SC4)

The SC4 Slider Control Card provides proper control of sliding doors by incorporating both relay logic and solid-state circuitry. The card will control up to four sliding devices.

Operation Logic

    • Momentary signal on “Open” input unlatches “Close” relay and activates “Open” relay after 0.5 seconds
    • Signal on “Close” input unlatches “Open” relay and activates “Close” relay after 0.5 seconds
    • Signal on “Stop” input unlatches both “Open” and “Close” relays immediately
    • Maintained signal on “Open” or “Close” input disallows signal from the opposite input

Key Features

    • Built-in “Open-Stop-Close” logic preventing immediate directional changes
    • Reduces sliding door maintenance problems
    • Eight interposing relays sharing a common fused bus for switching power to door locks
    • 0.5-second delay between directional changes
    • “Stop” input overrides both “Open” and “Close” signals
    • Plug-in card edge connectors for easy insertion and removal
    • 19″ rack or back panel mounting options
